Housing summit planned

The city of Albert Lea will host a workforce housing summit from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at Wedgewood Cove.
The program will provide an overview of local housing challenges and opportunities and survey attendees to gauge which topics are of particular interest to them. Ample time will be given for an open discussion with attendees.
The purpose of the summit is to:
• Discuss challenges and opportunities in the local workforce housing market
• Present local housing programs/incentives, along with a workforce housing toolkit that will be available for stakeholders in the housing industry to utilize
• Provide connections and conversations between city officials, developers, contractors, realtors and financial institutions in one setting to discuss possible solutions to challenges
• Receive input from the community on building more types of housing to meet growing workforce and community needs
