Letter: There are many topics to write about these days

I’ve had some people tell me they’ve enjoyed my letters and are waiting for the next one. Where to start? Hmmm, try these and tell me what you think. Shall I talk about the fact that so many kids are being brought up to have no respect for anyone, or that kids bully other kids because they think it’s cute? Well, it’s not cute when someone kills themselves because of this “fun.” How about the fact that we’ve lost the ability to have face-to-face conversations with other people because of our cell phones? Does this sound familiar? How about Mayo Clinic’s administration, which thinks it’s a game they’re playing with our lives so they can have more money? They say they messed up by not notifying us they were planning to pull services out, thereby leaving a hospital building with no hospital services. Come on, they’ve closed clinics before and now they expect us to believe that they didn’t know what they were doing? Everyone who believes that, raise your hand!
Now, let’s see if we can make some people mad. Shall we talk about our government leaders, both Democrat and Republican? Today, they have agreed to reopen the government and keep it open until Feb. 8. Wow! Remember, while some people had to work and not get paid, such as our military, the members of the Senate and Congress were working and getting paid. There seems to be a bit of inconsistency there. What do you think?
We have a president who thinks name-calling leaders of other countries is a presidential thing to do. He hired friends to be his trusted confidants in the White House. Look what’s happened to those friends he spoke so highly of at one point. What does that say for his ability to pick trustworthy people? No wonder people are leaking news out of the White House. It’s easy to dish dirt when someone leaves messes all over. He made promises that he has no intention of keeping, as all politicians do, but he wasn’t a politician when he made them. He learned fast. By the way, I didn’t vote for either candidate, although I did vote, because I didn’t want either one of them leading this country.
Maybe I should talk about the fact that we’re supposed to get, last I heard, 3 to 7 inches of wet snow. Why does the City Council refuse to put any kind of snow emergency system in place so those people who can’t or won’t move their cars off of the city streets won’t end up making a mess for the rest of their neighbors when the plows come through? Why is this so hard to understand?
There are so many topics to write about, which one do I do first? I’m glad to hear that my letters say what so many people are feeling. I’m sure there are people out there who think I’m crazy, but that’s OK, we all are. We have to be.
