Fire reported

A fire was reported at 6:41 p.m. Wednesday at Doug’s Auto Body Shop, 321 Sibley St. Upon arriving, fire crews reportedly found the fire in ductwork coming out of the furnace. The fire was extinguished quickly, and damage was estimated at $100, according to the Albert Lea Fire Department. The fire was caused by a heavy buildup of dust and debris in ductwork and the furnace. No injuries were reported.

Items stolen

A phone and other items were reported stolen out of a truck at 9:44 a.m. Wednesday at 820 Happy Trails Lane. The incident allegedly occurred before a tow truck came to tow the vehicle.

Tools valued at $950 were reported stolen from a job site at 10:23 a.m. Wednesday at 1204 Plainview Lane.

Someone was reportedly stealing toilet paper from a restroom at City Hall at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Checks were reported stolen at 4:01 p.m. Wednesday at 523 Green Ave, with one check passed at Walgreens and Hy-Vee.

A vehicle theft report was filed at 5:51 p.m. Wednesday at 327 W. College St.

1 arrested on warrant

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Peter Jay Engen, 39, on a Department of Corrections warrant at 8:29 a.m. Wednesday at 100 N.E. First Ave. in Clarks Grove. Deputies arrested Grace Gutierrez, 41, for harboring a fugitive.

Child abuse/neglect reported

A child abuse/neglect report was filed at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday in Albert Lea.
