Albert Lea police are investigating the death of a 1-year-old girl Wednesday.

Foul play is not suspected in the death, according to an Albert Lea Police Department press release. The infant reportedly received medical treatment Tuesday for flu-like symptoms.

First responders were reportedly dispatched at about 7:33 a.m. after receiving a call from a parent reporting the infant was unresponsive and not breathing.  

The infant was reportedly deceased when first responders arrived on scene, the release stated.

Further tests are expected to be conducted to determine the cause of death.

A GoFundMe page had been set up for the family on Wednesday that stated the girl had celebrated her birthday Feb. 11 and had been diagnosed with Influenza A on Tuesday.
