50 years ago: 1968
•The Kiester High School basketball team defeated Delavan, 58-56. Ron Penning scored 23 points and Wayne Stevens 14 for Kiester.
•In Border League basketball Freeborn defeated Elmore, 84-47. Leading the Yeomen were John Miller with 24 points and Bob Chicos with 14.
•The Wells High School basketball team defeated Mankato Loyola, 51-44. Steve Feist scored 13 points and Tom Schuenberg 10 for the Wildcats.
25 years ago: 1993
•Mollee Ludtke scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds for the Albert Lea High School girls’ basketball team in its 45-39 win over Mankato West. In its second game they defeated Winona, 51-45. Mollee Ludtke again led the Tigers with 19 points, Gretta Melstad had 10 points and Laura Bisek had 14 rebounds.
•The Lake Mills girls’ basketball team defeated Northwood-Kensett, 67-56. The Bulldogs were led by Caryn Reines with 23 points, Becky Castle 20 and Darci Escherich 18. Punky Kraft scored 28 points and Traci Walser 23 for the Vikings.
•The Glenville-Emmons boys’ basketball defeated Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 75-70 and raised their Gopher Conference record to 6-1 and its season mark to 11-3. John VanBeek scored 23 points, Brian Cipra 16 and Tom Fredrickson 12 for the Wolverines.
•In an overtime hockey game, the ALHS boys defeated Austin, 5-4. Scoring goals for the Tigers were Brandon Thomas with three, Matt Hershey and Dan Mendenhall one goal each.
10 years ago: 2008
•The ALHS girls’ basketball team raised its season record to 5-13 after defeating Mankato East, 54-42. The Tigers were led by Katie Schou with 12 points and Hali Hendrickson with nine.
•The United South Central boys’ basketball team defeated St. Peter 49-32 for its sixth win in a row. Tom Voigt with nine points and Bryan Hauge with eight led the Rebels.
•Jordan VanRyswyk with 18 points and Karissa Olson with 10 led the G-E girls’ basketball team to a 45-35 win over Hope Lutheran.
•Kate Hartman scored 20 points for Northwood-Kensett in its 49-34 victory over Riceville.
