Letter: Thank you for the endless support

On Jan. 27, our family witnessed the good that lives within friends and even strangers in our community. This good poured into the Eagles in Austin by the 100s to join our fight against cancer for one of our own, Becky Bergstrom.
There are so many individuals, businesses, community members, friends and family, far too many to name, that deserve a standing ovation and a huge thank you for their diligent efforts in planning, preparing, donating big, small and everything in between, baking, working and pulling off one of the best benefits ever. It has been difficult to find the right words to express our gratitude toward the support, prayers, thoughts, donations and the love of family, friends, strangers and our community — all so powerful, moving and beyond beautiful. Our family continues to be overwhelmed by the outpouring selfless generosity of our amazing community. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.” Each of you are the stars, our light and our hope in this time of darkness for our family.
Although many of us were flitting here and there during the benefit, pushing our way through the crowd barely finding time to visit, we did find time to witness compassion over and over throughout the night. Blessings to each of you who joined us, in person or in thought, at the benefit as brief or as long as your stay may have been. Your prayers, support, love, hugs and your generous monetary donations will continue to get Dan, Becky and the kids through this difficult battle against cancer.
“You’re a warrior. Warriors don’t give up, and they don’t back down. Pick up your sword and shield and fight.” Becky doesn’t fight this cancer alone. We fight with her. Please accept this thank you on behalf of the Dan and Becky Bergstrom family. Our family appreciates you digging into your hearts to support Dan, Becky and the kids and standing by our sides as we continue to battle against cancer.
“Do a little bit of good where you are. It is those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” — Desmond Tutu
Again, please remember you are the good in this world, and thank you for your endless support. Together, we will be the victors.
Blessings to all.
