Man pleads guilty to sexually abusing teenager

A Hartland man who reportedly sexually abused a teenage girl he knew in October pleaded guilty Thursday in Freeborn County District Court.

Dennis James Posey, 52, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Court documents state Posey was charged after he reportedly sexually assaulted the girl over a three-day period in October.

The charge Posey pleaded guilty to states at the time of the incidents, Posey was in a position of authority over the victim and more than four years older than the victim, who was at least 13 but less than 16 years old at the time of the incidents.

Posey did not enter a plea to one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and an additional count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 26. Assistant Freeborn County Jennifer Clements said if no criminal history points are found, Posey is expected to receive a stayed three-year prison sentence. It was unclear whether that was the case as of Friday afternoon.

As of Friday morning, Posey was in custody.
