Sheila Hanson, 1946-2018

Funeral services for Sheila R. Hanson, 71, of Albert Lea will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Eileen Woyen will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Sheila Hanson

Sheila died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at her home.

Sheila Rae Hanson was born Feb. 26, 1946, the daughter of Ernest and Doris (Sabin) Thompson. She grew up in New Richland, graduating from New Richland High School.

Shortly after high school, Sheila married Roger Hanson at Le Sueur River Lutheran Church. Roger passed away in 1999. Sheila worked at Naeve Hospital for over 30 years in admissions and as a switchboard operator. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Sheila enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and bird watching. She was a wonderful painter and quite artistic. Sheila enjoyed spending time with Lew — especially dancing and participating in the rendezvous— and  spending time with her faithful canine companion, Elsie.

Sheila is survived by her children Scott (Jean) Hanson and Kristine (Vince) Wakefield; grandchildren Andrew (Amanda) Hanson, Kersten (Chad) Aurich, Eric Hanson, Alexander Wakefield and Isaac Wakefield; great-grandchild, Ella Aurich; special friend, Lewis Olson; siblings Doreen (John) Hansen and Hope Ann McKinzie; sisters-in-law Judy Thompson and Judy (Hanson) Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger Hanson; brother, Gary Thompson; and sister, Sandra, in infancy.
