Trevor Hovland, 1970-2018

Memorial services for Trevor A. Hovland will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Malinsky will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com

Trevor died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Mahnomen Hospital.

Trevor Hovland

Trevor Allen Hovland was born Jan. 18, 1970, in Albert Lea, the son of Merle Dean and Jean Marie (Saltou) Hovland. He was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church and attended Albert Lea High School.

While in school he was active in wrestling, and his interest in it continued throughout his life. Trevor had an interest in Native American history, and he enjoyed living parts of that lifestyle. He also had a love for the outdoors and being in nature. Family was most important to Trevor, and he was devoted to his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his daughter, Shalisa Strouf; granddaughter, Ava Grinstead; brother, Kevin (Sarah) Hovland; sisters, Candy (Dean Slater) Hovland and Heidi (Chris) Fjermestad; nieces and nephews, Hope, Landon, Chloe, Devin, Alix, Evan and Soren; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends, including his lifelong friends Mike Olson and Chad Lamping.

Trevor was preceded in death by his parents Merle and Jean Hovland and grandparents Juan and Helen Hovland and Roger and Arlene Saltou.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
