After approximately 20 years away, a former Tribune employee has once again become a current Tribune employee after filling a part-time advertising position.
Donna Werner, the Albert Lea Tribune’s inside sales representative, returned to the Tribune close to a month ago. She will bring in advertising for special event pages.
“I just think it’s a great opportunity for me,” Werner said.
In addition to her previous work at the Tribune, Werner cooked at the American Legion for 20 years and worked at KATE radio, the Austin Daily Herald, Pheasant Links Golf Course in Emmons and, most recently, at Hy-Vee.
Werner came to the Albert Lea area from New York when she was a senior in high school. Since that time, she has met and worked with many people in the community, which she said will help her in her new position.
“I know a lot of these people in town,” Werner said. “I know the businesses.”
Werner is looking forward to finding satisfaction in her job and meeting her goals.
“I guess I’m a people pleaser, and I want to please everyone,” Werner said.
She is also looking forward to working the same hours as her husband. Together, they like to golf and visit their children and grandchildren in Rochester. Werner said she also enjoys being outside, tending to her flower pots and being involved at her church.
Werner will work part-time from Monday through Thursday.
“I feel that it works out,” Werner said. “I’m excited about it and I look forward to progress in it.”
