The Bon-Ton Stores Inc., which operates Bon-Ton, Herberger’s, Younkers, Boston Store, Bergner’s, Carson’s and Elder-Beerman stores, announced that its semi-annual Community Days fundraiser, which took place from March 1 to March 3, raised approximately $3.4 million for local 501(c) (3) non-profit organizations and school groups, according to a press release.

Nearly 6,000 organizations participated by selling coupon booklets containing exclusive offers at Bon-Ton stores. The booklets were sold throughout each community, at Bon-Ton Stores and online for a $5 donation of the donations benefiting the organizations.

“Bon-Ton Stores Community Days event is held twice each year and has been an essential fundraiser for many local charities and schools for nearly two decades,” said Steve Byers, executive vice president of stores for The Bon-Ton Stores. “Every dollar raised goes directly to the participating non-profit groups who support local causes and initiatives and contribute to building our hometown communities.”

In return for the $5 donation, purchasers received a booklet that contained a 30 percent off shopping pass and over $500 in special coupons that could be used at any Bon-Ton store during the three-day event.
