MINNEAPOLIS — For the second year in a row, Minnesota’s Carlie Wagner has been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team. The senior guard was one of 16 players chosen to three squads Monday, according to a press release.

Wagner becomes just the second player in program history to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American more than once, joining April Calhoun who did it in 2004-05 and 2005-06.

CoSIDA’s Academic All-America program recognizes student-athletes who succeed in the classroom while making significant contributions in competition. Wagner has maintained a 3.59 grade point average in business and marketing education while ranking second on the Golden Gophers in scoring.

Wagner averages 18.8 points per game this year and currently sits third on the program’s all-time career scoring list with 2,180 points. A First Team All-Big Ten honoree and member of the Big Ten All-Tournament Team, she leads the team in 3-pointers made (92), 3-pointers attempted (228), 3-point shooting percentage (.404), field goals made (219) and field goals attempted (507).

The New Richland native is also averaging 4.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Minnesota (23-8) finds out its postseason fate Monday night during the NCAA Selection Show at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
