Winter storm warning ended

The National Weather Service’s winter storm warning ended at 1 p.m. today for Freeborn County.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, weather conditions have improved. Interstate 35 is now partially covered with snow from the Iowa border up through Albert Lea, switching to normal conditions at Ellendale heading north.

Interstate 90 is partially covered with snow heading west as far as Fairmont, at which point the roads are still completely covered further west. East from Albert Lea, Interstate 90 is still reported as completely covered with snow through Austin.

As of 1 p.m., accumulations in Albert Lea were read at approximately 6.5 inches. There is still a high predicted chance of rain and snow through the afternoon, ending around 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
