A memorial service for Ardell L. Thompson will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bonnerup Funeral chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Sean Forde will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.

Ardell passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea. She was 87.

Ardell Louise Thompson was born Nov. 25, 1930, at Waseca Memorial Hospital to Harry and Lillian (Papke) Wentland. She was baptized at Waseca United Church and graduated from New Richland High School in 1948.

She was united in marriage to Gordon Thompson in New Richland on June 22, 1952. To this union, the couple had three children, Sharyl, Mark and Sandra.

Ardell was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She was active in the church circle as well as First Lutheran Church Women. She worked for F.W. Woolworth for 15 years and for Luke and Mary Trumble Restaurant for 20 years, as well as working at Skyline Supper Club and the truck stop in Albert Lea. Her favorite things to do were listening to country music, going for coffee and lunch with family and friends, and shopping with her family. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Kathy) Thompson, and their children Mark, Kristi and Kelly (Phillip); daughter, Sandra (Michael) Calcutt, and their children Mason, Andrew and Benjamin; grandchildren Wendi Bertelson and children Scott and Hannah, and Niki (Jason) Bartlett and their children; sister in-law, Beth Wentland; and many nieces and nephews.

Ardell was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; daughter, Sharyl Bertelson; both parents and mother- and father-in-law; brothers Harry, Dean and Dale; sister-in-law, Janet Evans Wentland; and great-granddaughter, Sara Ann Franklin.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
