The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for several southern Minnesota counties — including Freeborn County — that is expected to begin Wednesday morning.
The warning includes Steele, Waseca, Faribault and Martin counties. Areas in the warning — along the Interstate 90 corridor and Interstate 35 south of the Twin Cities — can expect 6 to 9 inches of snow, according to the weather agency.
Accumulating snow is expected to begin late tonight through Wednesday. Ice or freezing rain is not expected.
The Weather Service states some thunder is possible during the storm.
Motorists are advised to take caution as roadways could become hazardous. They should also expect reductions in visibilities.
