Baseball players partake in Slugfest tournament

- Albert Lea Baseball hosted Slugfest, which is a tournament for 12- through 15-year-olds, May 18-20, according to a press release. The Albert Lea 14/15A Blue team took first place, earning two bids to state — MBT and Gopher State, which are both in July. The Albert Lea 12A baseball team took second place on May 20 at the Slugfest tournament in Albert Lea. In pool play the team defeated Stilwater Black and Owatonna Blue, while losing to Bloomington. In the playoffs it defeated Owatonna 9-6 before losing in the championship game to Bloomington 13-3.
