Clair Grube 1927-2018

Clair Lawrence Grube, 90, of Edmonds left this world  Wednesday, May 16, 2018, to live in peace with his Lord.

Clair was born Nov. 13, 1927, on a farm near Glenville to Lawrence and Rosaline Sandman Grube. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was a lifelong member of American Lutheran Church, now Evangelical Lutheran Church Association. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1945; Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, in 1952; Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1955; and Clinical Pastoral Education, Emmanuel Hospital in Portland in 1969.

He served as pastor with congregations St. John’s and Genesee Valley Lutheran churches in Genesee, Idaho, from 1955 to 961; Emanuel Lutheran in Cheney, Washington, and contact pastor to Lutheran students at Eastern Washington University from 1961 to 1968; chaplain at Foss Home in Seattle from 1968 to 1987; and interim pastor at Freeborn Lutheran in Stanwood, Washington, and Trinity Lutheran in Freeland, Washington, until retirement in 1991.

He was a member of Rotary International, in clubs at Cheney and Lynnwood for over 40 years, and was a member of the Studebaker Drivers Club.

Clair married Marilyn Joy Friesleben in 1954 . To this union one son, Martin, was born. He and Marilyn traveled in all 50 of the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico and Europe. Marilyn passed away Dec. 6, 2002.

Clair married Sally Staser in 2008. He and Sally traveled many of the states, national parks and enjoyed wedding anniversaries in Leavenworth.

He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Sally; son, Martin, and his wife, Emma, and granddaughter, Megan, and her husband, Brent Younglove; brother, Rudolph Grube, of Westwood, Massachusetts; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by brother, Kinsler; sister-in-law, Jane Grube; and brother-in-law, Donald.
