The Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Department of Transportation are seeking input from commercial vehicle drivers, companies engaged in the transportation of property and people and other stakeholders for the development of a 10-year Minnesota Weight Enforcement Investment plan.

The plan is focused on identifying the operational, maintenance and investment needs for commercial vehicle weight and safety enforcement, and will help state and federal agencies better understand future capital and operational needs, according to a press release.

MnDOT will host an online interactive webinar from 1 to 2 p.m. June 12 to introduce the plan and to survey road users on safety needs across the state. To attend the free webinar, go to www.ustream.tv/mndot.

The webinar will focus on the physical infrastructure, such as improvements for weigh stations’ buildings, scales and pavements. The webinar will not cover federal motor carrier or state regulations since no changes are currently being proposed as part of this plan.

Stakeholder comments from the webinar will be used to draft the plan. There will be a public comment period once the draft plan is completed.
