In much the same fashion they have lead their conference this past spring, the shooters from NRHEG took command of the final week of conference play and won their conference in Class 6A with ease.

Led by Ashton Worke’s 49/50, the team had 10 athletes finish their final rounds with scores of 46/50 or better.  This level of prowess also assured that the team would have eight players finish in the conference top-25 averages for the season. They were led by Chancellor Olson with a team high average of 23.7 out of 25.

Olson, who finished in the state’s top-100 averages, now qualifies for his first MSHSL state individual tournament, which will be held in conjunction with the team tournament at the Minneapolis Gun Club on June 23.

The team will not know if they will join Olson until they compete in the state class championship in Alexandria on June 16.

The other seven shooters that joined Olson’s third-place finish in the top-25 are Evan Dobberstein (sixth), Caden Beauvais (seventh), Owen Prechel (ninth), Dalton Kraay (T16th),  Alex Dobberstein (T16th), Alex Romer (22nd) and Noah Alinder (25th).

Hanna Sack had the highest female average on the team with a 16.7, which just missed putting her in the female top 25 by a tenth of a point.

The team’s next event is on June 7, when 10 of its top shooters will take part in the Big South Conference invite in Fairmont.

Then the team will host their Fun Shoot and Awards Picnic at the Owatonna Gun Club on June 12, followed by the state championship in Alexandria where they shoot against all of the other teams from Class 6A to see who advances to the state tournament.
