Both teams were unable to gain any momentum at the plate through the first three innings. Albert Lea would only put two runners on base through the first three innings, coming off walks from Zach Edwards and Alex Goodmanson.

In the fourth inning, Edwards finally recorded the first hit of the night for Albert Lea with a single to shallow center field. Parker Andersen would also reach after being hit by the pitch, but neither man came across for a run as both were left stranded.

The Eagles would break the scoreless streak in the fifth inning by scoring two runs on a two-out single.

Albert Lea tried to start the rally in the bottom half of the inning as they loaded the bases with no outs. Garret Piechowski and Ty Harms reached on back-to-back errors by Lourdes. Gavyn Tlamka was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but two fielder’s choice balls and a strikeout ended the inning with no runs to show.

Albert Lea held strong with a solid sixth inning defensively and got one run back in the bottom. Alex Bledsoe was hit by  a pitch to lead off the inning and would eventually make it home after a throwing error by the pitcher.

Down one run with one inning to play, Albert Lea pulled out the come-from-behind win with one out on the board. Carter Simon got to first base on an error and came in for a score all the way from first base after a booming double from Carson Goodell. With Goodell in scoring position, Edwards stepped up to the plate looking to end the game with one swing of the bat. He did just that, striking a ball right over the second base bag, scoring Goodell after an overthrow to home.

Edwards was met by his teammates on the base paths to celebrate the walkoff win.

Albert Lea Post 56 improves their record to 4-1 on the season and will play again on Friday, when they start the Firecracker Tournament in Rochester.
