Editorial: Be patient in and near construction

We’ve heard numerous stories in the last few weeks of close calls near some of the construction sites in Albert Lea and of impatient drivers who are taking risks to get around the work quicker.

We ask motorists to think ahead when planning their outings and avoid areas with construction if you are in a hurry.

Yes, construction may be inconvenient, but that doesn’t mean drivers should disregard rules of the road.

In and around construction areas, motorists should instead pay extra attention to what is happening around them, whether that be pedestrians, bicyclists, construction workers or other vehicles.

Don’t let rash thinking cause a crash you will regret later, and remember that once the road work is completed, we will all be grateful.
