Kiester Days packed with events for the whole family

Kiester Days are set for June 21 through 24.
Events begin June 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a free community meal at the Kee Town & Country Centre hosted by the Farmers Co-op Association of Forest City, Leland and Kiester.
According to a press release, the Kiester Days celebration offers all who attend a chance for some good summertime fun.
The Kee Theatre will present a free movie, Disney’s “Enchanted,” at 7:30 p.m. June 21. The movie is rated PG.
The Kiester Historical Society Museum will be open from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 22 and from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 23.
A Machinery Hill will be at the Kiester Implement lot at Center and Fifth Street beginning at 5 p.m. All implements are welcome, both antique and newer. Those wanting to show their implements can bring their equipment to the lot prior to 5 p.m. June 22.
Machinery Hill will continue on June 23. The implements may also take part in the parade at 3 p.m. June 23.
A co-ed volleyball tournament begins at 9 a.m. June 23 at the Kiester City Park. Also beginning at 9 a.m. is a flea market. The fifth annual Glen Fure Memorial Horseshoe Tournament begins at 10 a.m., also at the park under the water tower.
Other activities at the park include a bounce house, the Boy Scouts and Venture food stand, face painting and hair coloring. The car and truck show will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Main Street next to the park. First- and second-place trophies will be given in five classes. A Participants’ Choice Award will be named, and door prizes will be given out to participants.
At 3 p.m. the big parade and kiddie/pet parade will begin with a shotgun start. The kiddie/pet parade will line up at the north end of the park and will go south on Main Street. The big parade lines up on Front Street at 2:30 p.m. There is no entry fee.
Horse and carriage rides will be given by Jake Jacobson following the parade. A bean bag tournament will take place in front of Forever Berma’s beginning at 4 p.m.
The Boy Scouts will host a pork chop feed from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kiester Legion.
A singles cribbage tournament begins at 7 p.m. at the Legion and at 8:30 p.m. Forever Berma’s will feature the live music of “The Plus Nine Band.”
Festivities on June 23 end at the Kiester Legion with their monthly steak and hamburger fry served from 5 to 8 p.m. Afterward will be a street dance featuring “Somethin’ Country.”
On June 24, an omelet breakfast will be from 7 a.m. to noon at the Kiester Legion. Proceeds go to the United South Central Legion baseball team.
The celebration concludes with a community church service at the Kee Theatre beginning at 10 a.m.
