Despite having their game postponed due to rainy conditions Wednesday night, the Lakers remain in first place in the Pioneer League standings.

The 10-2 Lakers are 3 1/2 games ahead of the second-place Carroll Merchants. The lead comes in large part after an undefeated week, which saw them extend their winning streak to six.

They started off the stellar week with a home win against the Peak of Ames, 5-2. The next night saw the Lakers dominate the Storm Lake Whitecaps, 10-2. The Whitecaps nearly had their revenge the next night, entering the ninth inning with a three-run lead. However, the Lakers pulled out some late game heroics, when Josh Dudden crushed a game-tying three-run home run, which propelled the team to a 9-8 10th- inning victory.

The Lakers followed up their exciting victory with a 10-0 shutout of the Bancroft Bandits on Saturday and a 9-4 defeat of the Merchants on Sunday.

During their undefeated week, the Lakers outscored their opponents 43 runs to 16.

Through 13 total games this season, Dudden leads the Lakers in both home runs, with two, and batting average, hitting .385. Thomas Krause, a Rochester native, is leading the Lakers in on-base percentage, reaching 46.9 percent of the time.

Liam Spence leds in runs scored and stolen bases, scoring 13 runs so far and stealing a perfect 10-10 bases.

Other notable performances at the plate are Keanu Van Kuren, who is hitting .344, Mitchell Keeran, who is hitting .290 and has scored 12 runs, and Noah Hemphill, who has hit in 11 runs.

In the pitching department, both Robin Allen and Cole Edgens are tied at three wins each. Luke Hastings leads the team with a .48 ERA and also leads in strikeouts, with 23. Both Allen and Dylan Hoffman have one save to lead the team.

Other notable performances on the mound include Reid Feeley, who is 2-0 with a .87 ERA, Cesar Capellan, who is 2-0 with a 2.30 ERA and Michael Beaudoin, who has a 2.08 ERA in three appearances.

The Lakers play again Thursday night with a game in Bancroft, and their next home game is Saturday, when they are scheduled to see the Bandits once again.
