A St. Charles woman arrested in a prostitution sting last August has been charged in Freeborn County District Court.

Janis Amanda Gross, 31, is charged with gross misdemeanor prostitution in a public place.

Court documents state Gross was charged after an Albert Lea detective arranged for a prostitution sting Aug. 29 and Aug. 30. Surveillance was set up in an Albert Lea hotel room.

A decoy reportedly responded to an ad posted by a woman on Backpage. The woman reportedly came to the hotel room and attempted to engage in prostitution before she was arrested.

Gross failed to appear for her first appearance on the charge Thursday. A warrant was issued Friday.
