Worth County Fair kicks off in Northwood

Published 8:00 pm Monday, June 11, 2018

The 139th annual Worth County Fair is set to take place this week at the Worth County Fairgrounds in Northwood.

Many new things, such as pig racing and a concert by Casey Muessigmann, as well as yearly favorites like the Grand River Rodeo, the tractor pull and the demolition derby are scheduled to take place throughout the week.

Newly paved walkways at a few spots around the fairgrounds were installed this year to accommodate for less than favorable weather conditions.

Two great food stands make their return to the fair, with many of the local 4-H children helping keep things up and running.

A staple at the Worth County Fair are the animal shows and 4-H exhibits and that won’t be changing this year.

4-Hers from the surrounding communities will have their projects judged Tuesday and proudly have them displayed in the exhibit building throughout fair week. Livestock shows will be taking place each day of the fair, including cattle, pig, horse, sheep, rabbit, poultry, dog and pet shows.

Of course, no fair would be complete without the amusement rides and attractions. This year, Ozark Entertainment will be providing the entertainment in the midway. This will be their first year at the fair.

Whether you’re looking to just grab a quick bite to eat or to spend a fun-filled day with the family, the Worth County Fair is the spot to be.
