There’s less than a week to go until the Freeborn County Fair. Amid all the food, concerts, rides and booths that fairgoers will take part in the fair, there are also dozens of contests taking place.

Whether you’re a child or an adult, the fair gives many chances for people to submit their best work and be judged in floral, creative arts, food, horticulture and other categories.

Take an awesome photo? Submit it into one of the art categories.

Make a delicious made-from-scratch cookie? Submit it into one of the pantry categories.

Grow beautiful flowers or impressive vegetables? There’s a category for that, too.

Not only does increased participation make for a better contest, but it makes for fun for all involved.

Aside from these categories, there are numerous categories for 4-H and FFA students, as well.

Though many categories asked people to register ahead of time, those wishing to be a part of the fair still have the opportunity to enter many of the categories on Monday.

Fair organizers put out a book that includes all the criteria and details for each category, and for additional questions, people can call the fair office at 373-6965.

Winners will be printed in future issues of the Tribune.
