On May 25, 1952, Marilyn married her longtime friend and love of her life, Merlyn Becker. Together they had three children, Sharlyn, Brant and Lugene, raising their children in Albert Lea. At only 2 years old, Lugene passed away from pneumonia. In 1994 Merlyn passed away, following Marilyn moved back to Northwood. There she returned to her home church, First Shell Rock Lutheran Church, the same church she was baptized and confirmed in.

Marilyn’s faith was strong. She could always be found praying for those in need, and found comfort talking to the Lord.

Through the years she found enjoyment and peace in the outdoors. Whether it was gardening, planting new flowers, watching the birds, taking strolls in the woods or just sitting, it brought her joy. Marilyn was an animal lover, constantly having dogs and cats around the house to keep her company; but there was no love stronger than for her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her children Sharlyn Nimz of Albert Lea and Brant Becker of Austin; grandchildren Brian Becker, Gina (Mitch) Wadding, Wayne Becker, Rachael Becker, Phillip Nimz and Jane Nimz; great-grandchildren Alexander, Chelsea, Dylon, Iasiah, CJ, Sarena and Hannah; her sister, Beverly Larsen, of New Jersey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Those who have preceded her in death are her husband, Merlyn; parents; daughter, Lugene; her brother, Rene Burtness; and her son-in-law, Raymond Nimz.

“Take care, God bless.”
