Duplicate Bridge

Five tables played Duplicate Bridge on July 3 at the Senior Center in Austin. Winners were Loren Cleland and Dave Ring, first place; Gail and Ray Schmidt, second place; Sue Mann and Gail Nelson, third place; Jim Fisher and Bud Higgins, fourth place; and Lorraine Lippert and Ron Peters, fifth place.

Duplicate Bridge is played at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and at noon on Wednesdays. Players come from Adams, Austin, Albert Lea, Rose Creek, Northwood and Mason City. All bridge players are welcome to come and play.

TOPS Minnesota Chapter 979

TOPS Minnesota Chapter 979 announced its division winners for May and June.

May Division winners were Aisha Heard, Division 2;  Rosie Leegaard, Division 3; Barb Soper, Division 4; and Darlene Kenison, Division 5.

Weekly best losers for May were Mary Louise Wirkus, week two; Janice Schroeder, week three; Betty Gavle, Leegarrd and Daniel Wirkus, week three; and Soper, week four.

There was a fruit show for Daniel Wirkus; a veggie shower for Nancy Jenson; and a paper show for Peggy Indrelie.

How Does Your Garden Grow contest winners were KOPS Ardis Bang, Jenson, Indrelie and Barb Solberg. TOPS were Mary Louise Wirkus. Honorable mentions were given to Daniel Wirkus, Heard and Rose Rolands.

June division winners were Heard, Division 2; Solberg, Division 3; and Kenison, Division 5.

Quarterly division winners were Heard, Division 1; Leegaard and Solberg, Division 2; Judy Thorson, Division 4; and Fern Rockwell, Division 5.

KOPS in Black were Bang, Indrelie and Jenson.

Weekly best losers were Heard, week one; Kenison, week two; Heard, week three; and Thorson, week four.

There was a fruit shower for Bang; a paper shower for Jenson; and a coin shower for Indrelie.

Tops — take off pounds sensibly — is a nonprofit weight loss support group. There is no diet plan, but support with others on the journey to health and wellness. Tops MN Chapter 979 meets at 9 a.m. on Thursdays in the Albert Lea Senior Center in Skyline Plaza to weigh in and learn about healthy lifestyles.
