ACT announces auditions for musical ‘Forbidden Broadway’

Albert Lea Community Theatre announced auditions will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 27 and 28 at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center for the musical “Forbidden Broadway.”

According to a press release, Broadway’s greatest musical legends will meet Broadway’s greatest satirist in the hilarious, loving and endlessly entertaining tribute to some of the theater’s greatest stars and songwriters.

Performers will parody show tunes, actors, characters and plots of some of Broadway’s biggest hits, such as “Chicago,” “Annie,” “Wicked,” “Into the Woods,” “Spamalot,” “Mamma Mia” and many more.

Directed by Rory Mattson, eight performances of the musical comedy revue are scheduled from Oct. 18 to Oct. 27. The director is looking to cast up to 12 men and women of various ages. There are no roles for children in the show. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing, learn a simple dance routine and read from the script. Rehearsals will be scheduled weeknights, with some weekend involvement closer to the performance dates.
