Memorial services for Darroll A. Johannsen, 84, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. Kurt Farrell will officiate. Interment will be at St. Theodore Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by local veterans organizations. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday. Darroll Johannsen

Darroll died Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.

Darroll August Johannsen was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Albert Lea, the son of August and Audrey (Ayers) Johannsen. He grew up in Albert Lea, graduating from Albert Lea High School. Darroll served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He was stationed in England and earned a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

On Sept. 3, 1960, Darroll was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Cashman at St. Theodore Catholic Church. He retired from Cargill/Hudson Foods. Darroll was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, including a past member of the Legion Honor Guard and the United States Bowling Congress. He enjoyed camping, boating and bowling. Darroll loved the Big Island Rendezvous.

Darroll is survived by his children Angela Johannsen, Michele (Brian) Burkard and Michael (Tara Register) Johannsen; grandchildren Tylor Robbins, Trevor Robbins, Alex Burkard and Derek Burkard; great-grandchild, Lacie Robbins; sisters-in-law Audrey Johannsen and Diane Cashman; and several nieces and nephews. Darroll was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Johannsen; daughter, Debra Johannsen; brothers Donald Johannsen and Doran Johannsen; parents August and Audrey Johannsen; mother-in-law, Ione Cashman; father-in-law, Raymond Cashman; brother-in-law, Richard Cashman; nieces Tammy Johannsen and Caron Johannsen; and sister-in-law, Janet Johannsen.

Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Hospice in Albert Lea, Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea or the American Legion.
