Elizabeth Mork, 1931-2018

Elizabeth Marie “Betty” Mork, 87, of Faribault passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at New Perspective Senior Living surrounded by family.
She was born July 25, 1931, in Radcliff, Iowa, the daughter of Nicolai and Jessie (Mork) Mork. As a child Betty moved to the Kenyon area with her family. She graduated from Kenyon High School and went on to obtain her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mankato State University. Betty taught home economics in Stewartville, Fairmont and Albert Lea. She retired from teaching in Albert Lea in 1992.
Betty was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church, where she was active in various women’s circles. She was a member of Sons of Norway, Minnesota Educators Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. Betty loved to sew clothing, blankets and various gifts for friends and family. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage, often wearing Norwegian clothing, cooking Norwegian foods and speaking with Norwegian relatives. Being from a Norwegian family was first and everything else came second.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews Don (and Bonnie) Mork, Shelby (and Norman) Miles, Roxanne (and David) Nauman, Julie (and Robert) Wheeler, Doug (and Mary Beth) Mork, Gail (and Chuck) Hachfield, Judy (and Dennis) Johnson, Shari (and Joel) Messmer, Karen (and Steve) Gray, Patti Mork, Gary (and Cathy) Mork and Brian (and Jennifer) Mork; and sisters-in-law Helen Mork and Lois Mork.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers, three nephews and one niece.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hauge Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hauge Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gideon Johnson will officiate. Interment will be in Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon.
Memorials are preferred to Women’s Missionary Federation, Hauge Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
