Emmons to host annual Borderfest celebration

Emmons Borderfest will span two days this year and feature karaoke, a parade and other activities.

A karaoke championship contest kicks off the weekend at about 8:30 a.m. Friday. Karaoke contests preceded the event in June and July. The winner of the championship will perform before Saturday night’s musical act, The Mockingbirds Band.  

A children’s pet parade will be available Friday night in downtown Emmons.

Festivities on Saturday begin at 9 a.m. with a senior citizens’ bake sale at Emmons Senior Center.

A parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Lineup for the parade begins at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Lutheran church.

The library and museum will be open Saturday, and a children’s pedal pull will be downtown at 2:30 p.m.

Knockerball will be available Saturday in downtown Emmons. The game features participants placing themselves in inflatable balls and attempting activities.  

A car and tractor show is from noon until 2:30 p.m. in downtown Emmons — registration begins at 10 a.m.

Awards with numerous door prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m. downtown.

A car and motorcycle cruise begins at 4 p.m. downtown, and a pork chop supper for Emmons Sons of American Legion and Emmons Commercial Club is from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Casey Muessigmann, runner-up on season three of “The Voice,” will perform from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday.
