John Huston, 1952-2018

John Lars Huston, 66, of Wells died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018.
He was born June 2, 1952, in Blue Earth to Louis and Junice (Garvick) Huston. He graduated from Kiester High School in 1970 and lived in rural Wells.
John married his highschool sweetheart, Laurie, on Jan. 7, 1972. John was the owner and operator of Lumberjack Tree Service.
John was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Sept. 4, 1982, in Mankato. He enjoyed spending time sharing his Bible based on hope for the future. He was drawn to the hope of a resurrection, especially after the death of his brother. He shared comfort from the Bible with those who would listen. He spent many years as a spiritual shepherd in Blue Earth and Albert Lea congregations.
He was well known for his kind heart. His love for others was evident in his bear hugs. He was a generous man with a deep love for creation. He looked forward to the time, according to Revelation 11:18, when Jehovah will, “bring ruin to those ruining the earth.”
John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Laurie (Hummer) Huston; daughter, Lisa (Jacob) Gauna; sons Brandon (Bethanie) Huston, Derek (Jessica) Huston and Isaac (Erika) Huston; grandchildren Manuel Gauna, Alejandro Gauna, Jacob Gauna Jr., Kyler Huston, Greta Huston, Daniel Huston, Isabella Huston and William Huston. He is survived by his mother, Junice Huston; sisters Linda Huston and Marie (Bruce) Meist; brothers Philip (Rhonda) Huston, Jack Huston and Lonnie (Tracy) Huston.
He was loved by many friends and family.
John was preceded in death by his father, Louis Huston; brothers Larry Huston, Thomas Huston and Timothy Huston; father-in-law, Burdette Hummer; and mother-in-law, Marian Hummer.
A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Albert Lea Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1963 S. Broadway Ave. Timothy Hellie will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
