Letter: It’s a good time to be a DFLer

It’s an exciting time to be a Freeborn County DFLer.
We have a great candidate running for the 27A House seat! Terry Gjersvik’s experience as a farmer, teacher and businessman gives him the background to understand the issues we all care about. Terry is a hard worker. Door knocking 5,000 doors is evidence of that! If you have had the pleasure of opening your door for Terry dressed in plaid, you know that he likes to listen and learn from his constituents. His background, work ethic and willingness to listen ensures we will be well represented when he takes office.
The fair was a blast. As always, we had great conversations and shared information about our DFL candidates. We were excited to try something knew this year and helped register voters! If you haven’t registered yet, go to mnvotes.org to register online or to find out what you need to register at the polls. Many signed up to win one or all three of the books we had at the fair. We will be drawing the names of the winners at our headquarters grand opening! You do not need to be present to win.
We have been busy getting our DFL headquarters set up. It is located at 2213 E. Main St. in Albert Lea (next to Perkins). We were privileged to host state chairman Ken Martin and DFL-endorsed candidates Erin Murphy, Matt Pelikan and Julie Blaha on Aug. 10 at our headquarters as part of the Minnesota DFL primary rally tour.
We are having our official headquarters grand opening from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The event will include music performed by local musicians. We will have a bake sale to support Terry’s campaign, because it doesn’t get any more grassroots than that! Come for the music, come for the snacks, come to meet Terry and come in plaid if you can!
As a member of the Freeborn County Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, not only am I excited, I am hopeful! I feel hopeful that District 27A will be part of the blue wave that hits Minnesota in November! I know Terry Gjersvik is the leader we need. I know he is working hard. I know he has a lot of support. We just need to get out there and vote!
