Norma Ruud, 1928-2018

Funeral services for Norma Lois Ruud of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Joel Erickson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. Friday. Interment will be in Clarks Grove Cemetery in Clarks Grove.

Norma died Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea. She was 89.

Norma was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Adolph G. and Mae A. (Peterson) Halseth. She attended public school in Albert Lea and was united in marriage to Verl Clifford Ruud on Nov. 16, 1959, in Madison, South Dakota.

Norma lived in Albert Lea all of her life and worked for Lesota Tool Co., Desoto Produce and Land O’ Lakes as a cook for a few years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and an active member of the Democratic Party. She loved music, dancing and travel.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Larson (special friend, Arlen Nessett); grandchildren Brady L. Larson and Jena M. Larson (Tim Steven): great-grandchildren Levi and Luci Larson; brother, Nordean (Barbara Halseth), of Trenton, Florida; a special niece and nephew, Marilyn and Dan Roth of Holmen, Wisconsin; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verl, in 2003; and sisters Clarine Halseth, Mildred Halseth, Eunice Wichmann, Lorraine Groff, Helen Malory and Deloris Syed.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hidden Creek Assisted Living, Oak Park Place Assisted Living and all the staff at St. John’s Lutheran Community and Hospice. A special thank you to Holly Stenseth for being Norma’s special guardian angel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church of Albert Lea or St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea.
