2 Albert Leans injured in I-35 crash

Two Albert Lea residents were injured Thursday afternoon when their car was rear-ended by another car on Interstate 35 in southern Freeborn County.
Nataliya Vitaliyivna Mays, 45, and Aleksandra Yarmakova, 83, were taken by Gold Cross Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The patrol report states Mays and Yarmakova were in a 2004 Mazda 3 heading northbound on I-35, two miles north of the Iowa border, when they were rear-ended by a 2014 Audi Q5, driven by Kenneth Keith Kolosso of Waterloo, Nebraska. Both vehicles were in the right lane of the interstate when the crash took place shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Mays was listed as the driver of the Mazda, and Yarmakova, the passenger.
The report states Mays and Yarmakova were not wearing their seat belts, while Kolosso was wearing his.
Alcohol was not a factor.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
