Kiester man injured after striking tree on I-35

A Kiester man was injured Thursday when a vehicle he was driving struck a tree on Interstate 35 south of the Hartland exit in Freeborn County.

Arthur Milford Albertson, 74, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with at least one injury deemed not life-threatening.

Albertson was driving a 2009 Subaru Outback north on I-35 when he entered a ditch, went through a fence and struck a tree shortly after 10 a.m. south of the Hartland exit, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Geneva fire crews, Gold Cross Ambulance, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and the Mayo 3 helicopter assisted on scene. 

Albertson was not wearing his seat belt, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the report states.
