A rural Wells man was injured Monday morning when the van he was driving was struck by a Union Pacific train west of Kiester.
Thomas Alan Fiest, 56, was taken by Kiester Ambulance to the hospital for minor injuries.
According to the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, Fiest was northbound on 560th Avenue — north of 35th Street — delivering mail when he failed to yield for the train, which was eastbound.
The train struck the rear driver side of the van, causing the van to spin into the ditch and overturn.
The incident occurred at 11:40 a.m.
Kiester Fire Department and Kiester Ambulance assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
