Southeastern Libraries Cooperating Executive Director Krista Ross and Albert Lea Public Library Director Peggy Havener will present a framed proclamation thanking Rep. Peggy Bennett for her support of libraries and library funding as a token of the appreciation of SELCO and its board of trustees, according to a press release.
The ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Children’s Library at Albert Lea Public Library, and the public is invited to attend.
The board of trustees of SELCO voted in July to issue a proclamation thanking Bennett for her support for all items on the Minnesota Library Association and Information Technology Educators of Minnesota 2018 legislative platform. Bennett was a school teacher for 33 years before being elected to the state legislature in 2014.
“Representative Bennett’s support of libraries and literacy is especially important today, because libraries are often the center of community life, and librarians help people find, evaluate and use the tremendous amounts of information we all encounter each day,” Ross said. “Contrary to what one might assume, libraries are more important than ever.”
