Bernice Mary Germain, 104, of Winnebago died Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at United Hospital District.
Visitation time was from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Spencer Owen Funeral Home, 345 Sixth Ave. SE in Winnebago, and one hour before the service at the church. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago with the Revs. Michael Roys and Cory Germain officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Winnebago. Bernice Mary Germain, the daughter of Michael and Constance (Kazmierczak) Rosol, was born Aug. 23, 1914, in Silver Lake Township, Martin County. She attended school in Granada and graduated from high school there in 1933.
On Nov. 1, 1936, she married Howard Hawver Germain. She attended Mankato School of Cosmetology and owned Looking Glass Beauty Shop in Winnebago until 1944. She raised her children and then operated the beauty shop at Winnebago Baptist Residence for 20 years.
She was a charter member of the Round Table Study and an active member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include son, Craig (Peggy) Germain, of Winnebago, and daughter, Janice (Larry) Irvine, of Albert Lea; grandchildren include Cory (Ellen) Germain, Cara (Wade) Gustafson, Troy (Kristine) Irvine, Heidi (Clint) McGill, Andrea (Nick) Werner and Andrew (Amanda) Irvine; great-grandchildren include Emma and Cameron Germain, Quinn and Tate Gustafson, Max, Charlie and Abe Irvine, Sam, Sawyer, Teddy and Lydia McGill, Frankie Werner, and Cece and Sydney Irvine; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
She was a wonderful inspiration to them all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, in 1982; parents; sister, Dorothy Hanily; and five brothers, Sylvester, Edwin, Michael, Harry and Raymond Rosol.
