Funeral services for Edith Allegra Earnest, 78, of Lamesa, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Church of the Nazarene, 911 N. First St. in Lamesa. Charles Empey, a brother of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Branon Funeral Home.

Edith passed away Monday, October 22, 2018, in Lubbock, Texas.

She was born Jan. 25, 1940, in Owatonna to Arnold and Laura (DeBolt) Lund. In 1960, she graduated from Naeve Hospital Nursing School in Albert Lea.

She married Bruce Earnest on June 19, 1964 in Lamesa. They were married 50 years. In 2005, she retired as a nurse after 50 years of dedication. She loved her cats and her dogs.

Edith is survived by her children Nancy Beam of Arlington, Texas, Joe Earnest of Lubbock, Wayne Earnest of Lamesa and Cindy “Kinder” Earnest of Lamesa; grandsons Dylan Beam and Joel and Jonathan Holguin; and great-granddaughters Natalia Holguin and J’lin Holguin of Odessa, Texas; sisters Pat Draayer, Karen Nelson, Loretta Schewe and Susan Westrum; and brothers Charles Lund and Thomas Lund.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bruce.
