Evelyn Caroline Ferber was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Myrtle, the daughter of Victor and Emma (Hansen) Nelsen. She attended a little one room schoolhouse, District 138 in London Township. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1936 and went on to graduate from the Mankato School of Cosmetology. Evelyn worked for many years as a beautician, ultimately operating her own shop above the Woolworth’s building.

On June 22, 1957, Evelyn was united in marriage to Melfred “Fritz” Ferber at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. They both liked to travel, so they bought a motorhome and would travel south to Arizona, along with many other adventures.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Evelyn enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, crafting and bowling. She was an avid photographer and was a member of several photo clubs in her youth. She loved spending time with family and having coffee with friends.

Evelyn is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Hansen) Bjerke; nieces Margaret (Bjerke) Hatch and Debra Bjerke; grandsons Ryan and James Joosten; nieces Gloria Limmerman and Susan (Ferber) Frizzo; nephew, David Limmerman; and many, many cousins.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Melfred “Fritz” Ferber; parents Vic and Emma Nelsen; and stepdaughter, Lynda Ferber.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in Evelyn’s name.
