I am pleased to offer my endorsement of Vern Rasmussen Jr. for another term in the office of mayor of Albert Lea.  In late 2010 I was honored to be appointed as the interim city manager of Albert Lea. I served for six months, during which period I observed the constructive, positive advocacy and leadership Mayor Rasmussen  brought to the office. We were successful in a request to the governor and Legislature for $500,000 of Minnesota bond assistance toward the Broadway infrastructure projects.

I am aware of his ongoing work to address and achieve important community goals since my brief tenure. My career in city management encompassed nearly 35 years in four Minnesota and three Iowa communities. I served with 13 women and men in the office of mayor. Each had their strengths and leadership style. I found Mayor Rasmussen to be a pleasure to work for, as I believe the staff did as well.

I believe it would be in the best interest of the fine city of Albert Lea for the voters to re- elect Mayor Rasmussen on Nov. 6.
