The government affairs committee of the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce will host two public forums later this month for candidates running for local offices.

The Albert Lea City Council forums will take place Oct. 29 in the City Council chambers.

The forum schedule is as follows:

• 6 to 6:45 p.m.: Ward 6 candidates Al “Minnow” Brooks and Nick Ronnenberg

• 7 to 7:45 p.m.: Mayoral candidates Vern Rasmussen Jr. and George Marin

• 8 to 8:45 p.m.: Ward 4 candidates Reid Olson and Gary Hagen

Forums for candidates running for the Freeborn County Board of Commissioners and Albert Lea School Board are slated for Oct. 30 in the council chambers.

Forums are scheduled as follows:

• 6 to 7:15 p.m.: Albert Lea school board candidates Brian Anderson, Mark Ciota, Dennis Dieser, Dave Klatt, Jill Marin, Kim Nelson and Kalli Rittenhouse.

• 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.: Freeborn County District 2 commissioner candidates Dan Belshan and Ken Osmonson 

According to a press release, candidates will be able to make two-minute opening and closing statements, and then the remainder of the time will consist of a panel moderator reading pre-prepared questions. Questions will be directed on a rotation basis.

The event will be broadcast live on the Government Channel, and the public is encouraged to attend.
