Man pleads guilty to having knife in courthouse

An Albert Lea man who possessed an 8-inch knife in the Freeborn County Courthouse in June pleaded guilty Thursday in Freeborn County District Court.

Anthony Bernard Hernandez, 41, pleaded guilty to felony possession of a weapon in a courthouse complex.
Court documents state Hernandez was charged after two Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched June 19 to court services on a report of a disorderly person.
In a probation agent’s office, a deputy saw a large, 8-inch silver folding knife sticking out of Hernandez’s right front pocket.
Hernandez admitted possessing the knife Thursday.
Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 14. Hernandez is expected to receive a stayed 365-day jail sentence and be placed on probation for two years.
