Melany Gold, 1975-2018

A celebration of life service for Melany M. Gold will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Edgewater Bay Pavilion in Albert Lea. The Rev. George Marin will officiate. In honor of Mel, the family is asking those who attend to please wear bright-colored clothing to the service.
Melany passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, in Mankato. She was only 43.
Melany Marie Gold was born July 15, 1975, in Austin to Curtis Gold and Marsha (Jensen). The family would move to Clarks Grove when she was 2, where she would be raised. After obtaining her high school diploma, Mel would receive her associate’s degree from Riverland College. Later in life she obtained her nursing degree from South Central College in Mankato.
Melany was blessed with four children, Myranda, Clayton, Sabrina and Leaf.
Mel worked most of her life as a waitress. She worked at Perkins for 18 years. She also was a bartender at various establishments.
Mel was a free spirit. She loved nature, camping, doing crafts and dancing. She loved learning more about philosophy and was always up for a good debate. Mel loved to read and gain further understanding into as much as she could. Wherever she was, there was always music playing. Mel can be described as passionate, enthusiastic and very charismatic — always joking with people and making everyone laugh. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by grandparents Cleota and Harold Jensen, Shirley Gold and John “Gordy” Gold; and uncle, Dean Jensen.
Surviving members of her family include her four children, Myranda, Clayton, Sabrina and Leaf, and their father, Justin Larsen; mother, Marsha Gold; father, Curt Gold (Patty); brother, Will Gold; a great aunt, Roberta Erntson; as well as many other aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
