5 things to do this weekend

1. Gobble Wobble

Neither gobbling nor wobbling are required, but for those thankful for a chance to run or walk a 5k race, your cup runneth over. The Albert Lea Education Association is hosting the Gobble Wobble at 9 a.m. Saturday. While online registration is closed, those wishing to participate can still register day-of at 8 a.m. Race check-in, T-shirt pickup and registration is at Brookside Education Center. In addition to a 5k, those who go to the Gobble Wobble can climb the rock wall, find free books for children, earn door prizes and participate in children’s activities. The event functions as the ALEA scholarship fundraiser.

2. Cantori Concert

Whether you’ve started decking the halls or not, the Cantori choir is ready to deck you out in Christmas spirit with the annual “Singing in the Season” concert Sunday. For this year’s theme, “Let There be Peace on Earth,” Cantori will perform traditional advent and Christmas music to open the concert and finish with some holly-jolly secular songs. The concert is free but will take an offering for the food shelf. The concert begins at 3 p.m. at United Methodist Church. Seating opens at 2:30 p.m.

3. A Tribute to the Beatles

Get ready to rock your ’60s socks off Saturday with Beatles tribute show “A Hard Day’s Night.” With authentic instruments, authentic costumes and authentic vocal recreations, “A Hard Day’s Night” is intended to be a high-energy show that takes you back in time with all your favorite Beatles music. The group will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.

4. Wells Does it Bright

The holidays start Friday in Wells with a season kick-off. Show up for Santa, live reindeer, a campfire, hot chocolate, sleigh rides, a craft show, activities for children and even more to do and see. The event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. in Wells.

5. Mystery movie

The movie may be secret, but isn’t that half the fun? Head to Marion Ross Performing Arts Center for a family-friendly PG movie from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
