The next presentation of the Dorothy Godtland Lecture Series will be “Art of Wilderness Canoeing” by Scott Pirsig. The presentation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Albert Lea Art Center, 101 S. Broadway in Albert Lea. The event is free and open to the public.

According to a press release, Pirsig lives in Albert Lea, but is constantly pulled north toward the Minnesota wilderness, and especially northern Ontario.

His love for wilderness canoeing began in July 1978. He has since taken over 80 excursions, both with a canoeing partner and alone, the release states.

Last June, Pirsig helped explore and map Wabakimi Provincial Park in Ontario. He will share his experiences from that expedition as well as his lifelong passion and excitement for canoeing in the great north woods.
