Election Day is drawing near, and there is a noticeable increase in negative and misleading rhetoric in advertising coming from local and statewide media sources. I am disappointed that so much of campaigning has been watered down to 30-second sound bites with oversimplified, partisan solutions to what are in reality, very complex challenges.

Complex challenges require creative solutions. Elected representatives need not only be creative, but also understanding, thoughtful, empathetic and hard-working. Terry Gjersvik encompasses all these qualities.

I have worked with Terry at Albert Lea High School and know that he is able to bring out the best in those around him. He is the candidate to help bring polarized politics to an amenable place. Terry has a thoughtful approach to policy and is deeply committed to our community. I am voting for Terry next week because of his encouraging qualities, and I hope others will, too.
