Letter: In the end, love wins

Sometimes people just believe in you. It’s that simple. They may have given up on a lot of things, but not on you. When this happens to you, take it deeply within you and absorb it to the depths of your soul. We have personally experienced this in this campaign season. There have been people who have loved us so profoundly that our lives will never be the same.
Running for public office is no easy task if you’re giving it your best. Some folks seem to automatically assume the worst about you if you’re not their preferred candidate. Others dismiss you simply because of the nature of politics. But there are those who come alongside you, and you see hope awakened in their soul. They are the ones who look beyond your faults and shortcomings and see something worth fighting for in you.
When you have given everything you have, and laid it all on the line, and feel you are completely spent, they emerge out of the fog and say, “We’re with you every step of the way. We believe in you.” Those encounters breathe new life into you, and that little whisper inside of you seems to say, “You have come into a purpose far greater than yourself. Keep fighting, keep moving forward, keep believing, you’re fighting for generations of people you’ve never even met.”
We are so grateful for our supporters. You’ll never know what your love has meant to us. We have forged a friendship based on love, hope and good faith, not just for our future, but even for the future of those who despise us. Love is greater than hate, and in the end love wins. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
